Tower Wood 2015

Good evening from Year 5 and Year 6 at Tower Wood in the Lake District. What a day we've had! It has been amazing.

We have learnt lots of new skills - how to make a bed for a start. After arriving in the pouring rain we brought all our bags into the building and found our way round. After unpacking and eventually finding our way out of the duvet cover we had our lunch.

Our first task was to find our way around the centre. Our instructors, Loz, Roy, Jo, Bec and Fiona showed us how to use an orienteering map and we made our way around the centre.

After this we went our different ways and did our different activities. Two groups were doing high ropes - the leap of faith and tree climbs, the other two groups went on the lake - one taking sailing boats out and the other taking dragon boats out. It was very windy but we loved every minute of it.

For tea tonight we had beef hotpot and mixed vegetables - would you believe everyone ate it, everyone.

This evening we have had a campfire, sangs songs and toasted marshmallows. There was a brief break in the clouds and we loved looking at the stars. A lucky few even saw some shooting stars.

After a quick shower to get rid of the smell of smoke we have had our hot chocolate and biscuit and we are playing a massive game of hide and seek in a building bigger than our school.

It'll soon be bed time and we are all ok. Everyone is happy and loving every minute of it.

We'll try and put an update on tomorrow evening. If you want to leave comments on the contact us section of the website and we'll read them out tomorrow evening.

Julia Golding visits school...
On Monday this week we welcomed Julia Golding and children from Kirkham and Wesham Primary School into our school. Julia is a well established author writing books from children and teenagers. She gave us a very interesting presentation on how she writes her books and how you get a book published. The children really enjoyed learning about this fascinating area and some bought a signed copy of her latest book - Mel Foster and the Demon Butler.

RE Inspection
I am sure you will all remember our RE Inspection in June; well the report has been published and is now available to download. Click here. We are incredibly proud of the outcome of our inspection but we are even more proud of all of our children. They showed the inspectors how wonderful they are and how fantastic our school really is. We are also extremely grateful to all our parents and families who gave such lovely feedback on the parents questionnaire. Every member of staff is humbled and feels privileged to be part of your child's education.
Check out our video...
A couple of months ago we commisioned James Hume to create a video that will show everyone how fantastic our school is. Take a look...
Please note: Although the video is hosted by YouTube, the video itself is not available for anyone to view from the YouTube website.
